What is Rehearse

We are building a multi-phase creative ecosystem designed to support artists at every stage of their journey. From first ideas to refined craft, from quiet practice to public performance, each space is intentionally shaped to meet a different part of the creative process.

Rehearse grows in phases, each one expanding the way people create, connect, and express themselves.

We begin with access to community and practice, and evolve into spaces for craft, mastery, transformation, and personal expression.

This is a living environment for artists, musicians, makers, and creators of all kinds, built not around one discipline, but around the full experience of creation.

The Heart

More than a café, this is where creativity and community meet. Our café is designed with intention, offering a seasonal menu that supports local bakers, celebrates diverse cultures, and creates space for both quiet focus and meaningful connection. Whether you’re settling in with a coffee to study or meeting someone new, the environment shifts with your needs. Our vision includes the development of a more immersive kitchen experience, where food becomes both craft and learning. Over time, this will expand into opportunities for seasonal, locally grown produce through access to a dedicated garden. The space itself invites you to stay. Lush greenery, curated artwork from our in-house artists, and a calming central aquarium create an atmosphere that feels both inspiring and grounding. As you move through, you’ll find areas to gather, reflect, and engage with the creative work happening around you. For more intimate moments, our Staging Room offers a private setting for early brunch bookings, small gatherings, and events of up to 25 guests. In the evenings, it transforms into a warm, intimate venue, perfect for celebrations, small performances, and curated experiences. Select events may include access to a simple bar, designed to complement, not overpower the atmosphere. We also host ongoing community experiences: from seasonal and solstice-inspired gatherings, to craft nights, open creative sessions, and monthly karaoke on the first Friday. These events are built to bring people together, spark inspiration, and create space for expression at every level. Sustainability is central to this evolution. Through composting systems and mindful sourcing, we aim to close the loop between creation, consumption, and renewal, reducing waste while deepening our connection to the land and the food we share. Our Pay It Forward program allows guests to contribute toward meals or drinks for someone who may need it, no questions asked. Whether it’s a warm coffee, a nourishing meal, or a small moment of comfort, these contributions are held and made available for members of our community. Booking requests for private use or events can be submitted through our website and are thoughtfully reviewed to ensure alignment with our space and values. At our core, we are committed to community impact. A portion of our initiatives will support women’s and children’s charities, with a focus on uplifting and empowering women through both creativity and opportunity. This is a space to connect, through art, through culture, and through each other.

The Hall

This is where practice becomes performance. At Rehearse, we believe that access to space is one of the biggest barriers for performing artists. Too often, rehearsal and development are limited while performance is prioritized. We’ve built this space to shift that balance. Our rehearsal hall exists first and foremost as a place for artists to practice, refine, and grow. Dancers, actors, and performers can book dedicated time to work, whether independently or with their group, in an environment designed to support focus, movement, and creative development. Soundproof practice pods are built for musicians, vocalists, and creators who need the freedom to experiment without limitation. Whether you’re refining your sound, recording vocals, or simply working through ideas, the pods offer a controlled environment with minimal background noise, something many creatives don’t have access to elsewhere. They are also ideal for podcasters and voice work, providing a space where clarity and focus allow your work to reflect your full potential. Bookings are managed through our website and thoughtfully approved to ensure the space is used with intention. Once confirmed, artists are granted access to a space that respects both their craft and their process. Beyond rehearsal, this space transforms. As creators ourselves, we (Toni and Jena) bring our love of planning, design, and atmosphere into the experiences we host. Rehearse will regularly present curated events, from seasonal and solstice-inspired gatherings, to fundraisers, themed celebrations, and community nights that invite both artists and audiences to engage. These events are an extension of the work created within our walls, giving artists opportunities to share, connect, and perform in an environment that values creativity at every stage. Upcoming events will be announced through our website and social platforms, with opportunities to attend, participate, or contribute.

The Craft

As Rehearse grows, so does the opportunity to create. In our next phase, we will introduce private artist studios, giving visual artists and makers a dedicated space to develop their craft within a larger creative ecosystem. Alongside this, our learning centre will open, offering a wide range of workshops and classes designed to make creativity accessible at every level. From hands-on crafting and skill-building sessions to exploratory classes for beginners, the goal is simple: to create a space where anyone can learn, try something new, and feel inspired. We are especially excited to offer creative programming for children, providing an environment where imagination is encouraged and shaped by exposure to multiple artistic mediums. This is a space to experiment, to grow, and to create without limits.

The Aesthetics

This is where art becomes personal. The Aesthetics at Rehearse is a space dedicated to self-expression through the body, where artistry, identity, and intention meet. Rooted in a female-forward approach, this space is designed to feel safe, respectful, and empowering for all who enter. We honour the history and cultural significance of tattooing and body modification, recognizing these practices as art forms with deep meaning and lineage. Every service offered is approached with care, professionalism, and respect, for both the craft and the individual. This space will bring together skilled artists offering tattooing in its many forms, permanent makeup, medical tattooing, and piercing, alongside thoughtful services such as tattoo removal, supporting not just creation, but evolution and change over time. Whether someone is choosing their first piece, continuing their story, or redefining it, The Aesthetics is built to support that journey with intention and integrity.

The Supply

Within Rehearse, access extends to include the everyday tools needed to create and stay immersed in your work. The Supply is a curated retail space designed for artists, students, and residents within our community. It offers essential items that support daily creative life, so ideas are never interrupted by what’s missing. Here you will find practical necessities like stationery, chargers, headphones, and materials for work and study, alongside thoughtfully selected everyday items that support comfort and flow within the space. The Supply also serves as a platform for our resident artists, showcasing and offering their work in accessible forms, from prints, stickers, and apparel to mugs and handmade goods. It is a space where creativity extends into everyday use, allowing art to be lived with, not just viewed. As Rehearse evolves into Phase 3, The Supply will expand further, incorporating materials and works produced within The Foundry, bringing together creation, production, and distribution within one connected ecosystem.

The Foundry

This is where raw ideas are transformed into refined work.

The Foundry represents the next evolution of creation at Rehearse, expanding beyond practice and craft into spaces designed for depth, precision, and transformation. Here, artists are given access to the tools and environments needed to bring their work to its fullest expression.

At the core is our recording studio, built for musicians and vocalists ready to capture their sound with clarity and intention. Whether developing original work or refining performance, this space supports artists in translating practice into something lasting.

Alongside this, The Foundry introduces material-based creation at a new level. With access to specialized equipment, including kilns for pottery, glasswork, and sculpture, artists can explore form, texture, and process in ways that require both skill and space.

Rooted in our values, this phase also embraces sustainability through creative reuse. Our recycling initiative transforms discarded materials into artistic opportunity, encouraging innovation while reducing waste, and proving that meaningful work can come from what’s often overlooked.

The Foundry is not just about making, it’s about shaping, refining, and reimagining what’s possible.

Why Rehearse Matters

Rehearse was created from a need we’ve experienced firsthand.

We are people from this community who have seen the potential we were often told wasn’t there.

Across Alberta and Western Canada, artists, musicians, performers, and creative entrepreneurs continue to face limited access to affordable, welcoming, and professionally designed spaces to create, collaborate, and grow. Yet the arts remain one of the most impactful contributors to culture, wellbeing, innovation, and economic development.
